| Hafiz Saeed's remarks aimed to disturb peace in Valley: GOC | | |

ANANTNAG, Jan 14:: Commenting upon recent statement of LeT founder Hafiz Syed, an accused of Mumbai massacre , General Officer Commanding (GOC) 15 Corps, Lt Gen Om Prakash on Monday said is aimed to disturb the prevailing peace in valley. He however added army will increase surveillance and sensitize the areas for the safeguard of elected Panchs and Sarpanchs. Talking to media on the sidelines of a function here in Anantnag district of South Kashmir, Lt Gen Prakash said, "Hafiz Syed speaks of militant mind and wants to disturb the prevailing peace in Kashmir valley. But we (the army) will not allow fulfilling of his evil designs." However while referring to the recent attacks on Public representatives by the suspected militants, General said that army will sensitize the areas by patrolling to safe guard the people but at the same time it is also the duty of local populace to be vigil and alert against vested interest elements. On LoC skirmish, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 15 Corps, Lt Gen Om Prakash said, "We have done nothing wrong we ought to defend and retaliate at a time when our restrained would work." Adding that flag meeting though is official code, he said, "We will lodge our protest against recent continued ceasefire violations and about our International war laws.
