| 4 dental clinics sealed, 6 licenses suspended | | Hepatitis C outbreak | |

Anantnag, Jan 14: Following hepatitis C outbreak , the District Magistrate Anantnag ordered closure of four dental clinics and suspension of six employees . According to reports, a joint team of district health and drug officials today sealed four dental clinics including one diagnostic and X-ray unit that were running without registrations in South Kashmir's Kokernag area. Reports said more than twenty people were detected infected with the disease. The epidemic, reports said originated from Takia Magaam, Sonawari in Kokernag Tehsil four days back and more than 20 patients have tested positive. Two teams one from SKIMS and one from Directorate office Srinagar visited the area and are investigating to find out cause of the outbreak. Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Farooq Ahmad Shah, while confirming theoutbreak said, "We have sent teams there to investigate and the persons who tested positive will be given free medical help at SKIMS." Chief Medical Officer Anantnag along with Assistant drug Inspector and otherofficials visited the area and sealed three dental clinic and one diagnostic and X-ray unit running without registration in the area from past several years. Moreover, team suspended the licence of six chemists in the area. |
