| J&K to get soon Tata Nano Taxi service!! | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 14: While the Bajaj RE60 is still sometime away from replacing auto rickshaws on our roads, the Tata Nano might soon do the honours in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Well, almost.
The state transport department at J&K has received many applications for bringing the Nano to the taxi segment and charging the same fare as auto rickshaws. Govt. of J&K has already called for submission of proposals from the interested parties and we might soon see Tata Nano taxis plying on J&K roads. Transport commissioner Mehraj Kakroo has commented, "We have received proposals from private players intending to use Nano cab as a commercial vehicle to ferry passengers on the tariff being charged by the auto rickshaws." All the Tata Nano cabs will be retrofitted with GPS systems and will charge the passengers as per the meter. J&K Govt has said that the Nano taxis should be 2 years old at the time of entering the taxi business and should be equipped with air conditioning. The state govt. has already allotted white, red and black colors for Nano cabs.
