| Western disturbance to affect JK till Feb 7 | | | early times report Jammu, Feb 1: The Metrological department of the state has predicted that the western disturbance may affect Jammu and Kashmir adjoining areas from Sunday to Thursday, with main activity of February 5-6."A western disturbance is approaching over the state and is likely to affect J&K and adjoining areas from the evening of 3rd till 7th Feb morning (Sunday/Thursday) with main activity on 5th and 6th Feb," said met officials."Due to this weather system, moderate to heavy snowfall (over hills)/ rains (in plains) will occur at widespread places of Jammu and Kashmir regions and at a few places over Ladakh region. Because of moisture incursion from Arabian Sea, some places along Pirpanjal range and plains of Jammu is likely to receive heavy to very heavy snowfall/rainfall during these days," he added. According to the Met Officials, during this period day temp. may fall by 6-7?C. and night temp. may rise by 2 to 3?C. this weather system likely to disrupt surface and Air Transportation on 5th and 6th. This statement is issued for the information and necessary action of user agencies and general public.Director of the Metrological has also sent an Weather Advisory to the Project Co-ordinator (UNDP) Divisional Disaster Management Cell, Kashmir/Jammu, to inform them about the major changes expected in the weather of the state. The Met department has also predicted that the weather will be normal on Friday, "These disturbance may only affect till February 7. |
