Jammu, Feb 2: In what can be seen as a statement loaded with political ramifications PDP today demanded that annual Amarnath pilgrimage be allowed to be conducted by Kashmiri Pandits contending that abode of Shiva is a religious place that essentially belonged to the community for centuries . The PDP leader Dr Sameer Koul asserted KPs have major stakes in the pilgrimage and deep religious sentiments associated with Yatra and the community is well capable of handling it smoothly . " Kashmiri Pandits have age old religious and spiritual ties with Amarnath (Lord Shiva's abode)……but unfortunately they have now been completely sidelined and have no role nor any say in decision making at any level…..", the PDP leader lamented. Dr Koul asserted that either the entire Yatra should be allowed to be conducted by the community along with those representing it from the beginning, or adequate representation from the KP community should be given in the Shrine Board .
