| Disempowerment of KPs shows arrogance of power in NC, Cong: PDP | | Smelling foul, demands audit of PM's package | | 'Valley protests biggest blackmailing tool of NC..' Early Times REport
Jammu, Feb 2: Amid widespread criticism over ignoring minorities, Kashmir Pandits in particular in the state Council of Ministers yet again, the opposition PDP today hit the nail against ruling coalition partners NC and Congress alleging both had adopted a policy of deliberate disempowerment of the community politically as the latter formed no vote bank power for these parties. Cautioning on the warning note, PDP leadership said the policy of pushing the community to wall and alienate them completely from power circles would weaken the already fragile socio secular fabric in the state and erode strong cultural links and bonds of the exiled community. " "We express strong resentment the way both NC and Congress has taken KPs for granted…..their policy only smacks arrogance of power and reflects the extent to which these parties have disregard and disrespect for the minorities in general and KPs in particular….", said Dr Sameer Koul, Chief Spokesperson of PDP while addressing media in a press conference today. PDP leader said what matters most to both NC and Congress is to see how they stay in power. Since KPs do not form any sizable vote bank, therefore they have chosen to ignore them completely. "We are more surprised for Congress the way they have dispensed with the Kashmiri Pandits despite the fact that it is the community which has given its life and blood since decades to the party….Congress too has displayed it is concerned in vote bank politics and therefore has no concern for the traditional practice of having at least one member on board ."We are deeply anguished they have broken this tradition based on the principles of having amity, secular ties…..not for mere vote bank …..this only shows to what extent NC and Congress are power hungry", said PDP spokesperson. But we want both the parties to register this well that they should not consider KPs weak or meek ,Dr Koul asserted. Commenting on the security situation in the state, the PDP leader said he only perceived it as 'eerie silence ' which is however misleading , going by the government claims. "I am not concerned what is happening on borders …I am more concerned for what people feel and think inside the state …….it is lull before the storm and there is possibility of resurgence of uprising if government doesn't address certain issues immediately……people are silent because their rights have been suppressed on many counts", PDP leader observed pointing out to problems being faced by masses . However, what came as harsh dig against the rival party was in what PDP leader alleged that National Conference has in the past and continues to use as its biggest blackmailing tool the outburst of people by way of protests which the party projects and portrays as anti India sentiment whereas the fact remains that people raise their voice against their misgovernance , lack of basic facilities. " It is the master of all black mails enacted by NC……….they project it through the prism of national security and mislead the Government of India…". Hitting hard against the coalition, the PDP leader alleged funds were reaching right quarters under PM's package meant for kPs and demanded a proper audit into all expenditures under the package made so far. " We demand that whatsoever package has come under relief for the community that should be audited so that everything comes clear …….", he said adding that government approach was slothful towards employment package meant for the community. |
