Jammu, Feb 2: Following plea from an RTI activist about the Police Complaint Boxes, Chief Minister’s office has sent afresh reminder to PHQ for disposal of the request regarding maintenance of police complaint boxes and redressal of complaints. Pertinently few years ago Jammu and Kashmir police on the directions of the then Director General of Police installed various DGP complaint box/mail boxes outside every police station and on the main markets in each town of the state so that citizens can directly submit their complaint to the DGP, citizens could even make complaints against the police officers also. Initially, all went in systematic manner but later these complaint boxes ultimately became defunct. Meanwhile RTI activist Raman Sharma filed petition with the Chief Minister through JK Grievance Cell, vide complaint no. 36975 dated 29/Dec/2012 urging Chief Minister to direct concerned to ensure installation of these complaint boxes and also for necessary service of the damaged complaint boxes. Acting on the complaint of Raman Sharma, Chief Minister's office forwarded it to the Director General of Police, but despite four reminders since then no intimation/information has been received from the Police Headquarters. The first reminder was issued on 08/Jan/2013 with cautionary note "The Complaint was forwarded to you on 31.12.2013 for its disposal. The prescribed time for disposal of the complaint received in CMs grievance cell has already lapsed while the latest reminder was issued on 30/Jan/2013 |
