Anantnag, Feb 2: A confident Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mehbooba Mufti today said the future belonged to her party. "The people will definitely vote for PDP in the 2014 elections", she predicted while talking to media on the sidelines of a function at Ashmuqam in Anantnag district today She slammed National Conference (NC) led collation government for reappointing retired officers creating dissatisfaction among the unemployed youth of the state. "Present collation government failed to provide basic facilities to the valley people especially Power. LPG crisis has worsened the situation and people are disgruntled", she said adding the PDP regime ensured effecdtive governance. She said that the graph of corruption in the state during the times PDP led collation government was too low as compared to the present government. Mufti slammed government for reappointing retired officers. "When the government is reappointing retired officials , how can the unemployed youth expect a fair deal from it?" Earlier addressing a party convention, she said that present government failed on every front and their claims proved hoax. She demanded release of detainees imprisoned during 2010 protests. "When it happens, then the Chief Minister can talk about revocation of AFSPA and other issues", she said. She said that every time it was the National Conference regime that put Kashmir issue into cold chambers and derailed the issue. "We progressed on every level during our times. We took bold steps like trade, bus service and other things that benefited the disconnected families across the line of control but it is unfortunate that when NC came into power, things have come to a halt." The convention was attended by thousands of party activists from South Kashmir's Phalgam constituency. MLA Phalgam, Mohammad Rafi Mir, Tariq Hameed Qara and others also addressed the convention. |
