Srinagar, Feb 8: Tuition centers in Srinagar have been transformed into crime centers due to which the girl students are feeling insecure and the parents lost between desire and terror.
The tuition centers have become vulnerable and the crime against girls is showing an alarming increase. Eve teasing and harassment in and around tuition centers is ever increasing and at certain occasions some big incidents happen in close vicinity of tuition centers. Cyber crime is also directed towards this section only.
Acid attack on a woman and the response evoked by the girls' band drew their origin from tuition centers. If a tutor is involved in crime against girl's rock band in one case, it is the lady teacher who becomes victim of tuition going students in another case.
The point is that degeneration of education system, social crime and teachers turning the greedy-this all is related to the tuition centers in Kashmir and the government is watching this happening like mute spectators and wakes up only when a crime takes place.
Notwithstanding the fact that the educational base is widening in the state, the mess in the education department is Kashmir valley is beyond limits. The teaching faculty in the government schools though been highly qualified and trained have failed to impart education in the schools while as the same faculty is running the tuition centers in every nook and corner of Srinagar city and other parts of the valley.
The teachers' community which was once regarded as the nation building community has been reduced to the money minting tools and the students as asses lifting huge burden on their delicate shoulders. According to the latest survey conducted by a NGO, there are about 1200 tuition centers (big and small) in Srinagar city alone. And what is astounding is that the education department either patronizes this mushroom growth of tuition centers or ignores this menace which has rendered the government controlled educational institutions meaningless.
The tuition centre culture is even creped into the lower classes and there is not even a single student, irrespective of his family's economic background, who is not seen in the tuition centers in the city. |
