| CM accused of nurturing double standards | | `Annoyed over FB posts, silent on Rath CD' | |
Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 8: Quarters concerned about morality, values and ethics have accused the Chief Minister of nurturing double standards. According to them, the Chief Minister has applied different yardsticks in two incidents concerning honour and dignity of women. Omar Abdullah hailed the police for arresting three students who had posted `objectionable' remarks on the Face Book on the all-girl-rock band issue. In his tweet, the Chief Minister extended all support to the girls and assured them of his full cooperation. While the Chief Minister was hailed for his stand on the band issue, the above quoted quarters have criticized him for his silence on the Rath CD issue. The CM did not order prosecution of the former SSP who was found guilty of violating the code of conduct by a court. The erring SSP had used abusive and vulgar language against women while interrogating an accused in Amandeep murder case. The Chief Minister also remained mum when a Jammu University student was molested inside a police station. Shockingly the erring police officer was punished with promotion. The Chief Minister has been urged to make his stand clear on the issues. "If three students have committed a crime, the aforementioned police officers have not done a virtuous deed", they made clear. |
