| Clergy condemns alleged police brutality on Madrasa students | | No action against accused policemen | | Asif Iqbal Naik kishtwar, Feb 8: Irate over inaction from the administration and senior police officials against the policemen involved in alleged brutality on seven Madrasa students in remote Patimhala area of Kishtwar district, chief cleric of Jamia Masjid Kishtwar Farooq Ahmed Kichloo during Friday sermon condemned police brutality on students. While lambasting at incharge police post Patimhala ASI Abdul Majid, Immam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar alleged that policemen were trying to link innocent youth with militancy only for getting awards and promotions. He demanded action against the accused policemen at the earliest. It is pertinent to mention here that seven students of Madrasa Assrar-ul-Uloom Patimhala were allegedly subjected to police brutality after they left the Madrasa fearing punishment from the teacher for not reciting Quranic verses. After escaping from the Madrasa, their parents captured them within few hours but all were later detained inside the local police post where the police personnel on duty allegedly trying to label them as militants brutalized them. |
