Sham, Ajaz lay foundation of Rs 9 cr Mini Secretariat Complex at Akhnoor

AKHNOOR, Feb 8 : Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma along with Minister of State for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation, Ajaz Ahmed Khan, laid the foundation stone of Mini Secretariat Complex, here today.
This Revenue Department's prestigious complex will house all tehsil offices and entire administration will function under one roof. The PWD (R&B) will execute the construction of the project with an approved outlay of Rs. 9 crore. The three-storey complex will comprise 12300 sft plinth area with similar dimension of first floor, and third floor will have 8200 sft area. The complex besides accommodating the offices of different departments will also have a big conference hall and all basic amenities for the public.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Pradeep Gupta, Commissioner/ Secretary Revenue, B. A. Runyal, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma, Chief Engineer, PHE, Jammu, Ashwani Sharma, Chief Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control, Jammu, K. K. Gupta, Director Horticulture, Jammu, J. N. Sharma, SDM, Akhnoor, N. S. Jamwal, Sarpanchs/Panchs, sectoral officers of various departments and large number of people from different parts of Akhnoor tehsil were present on the occasion.
Addressing a well attended gathering of people on the occasion, Sham Lal Sharma said that it is endeavor of the Coalition Government to provide transparent, efficient and accountable administration to the people at their door step, adding that construction of Mini Secretariat is also an attempt in this direction. He said that people will be able to get hassle free services under single window system and this would also help in bringing people more close to the administration. Reacting to the recent hailstorm which caused heavy damage to the standing crops, the Minister directed the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu to get the necessary survey conducted in all affected areas and submitt report within one week so that compensation process is initiated accordingly. He also urged the Revenue Minister to upgrade the existing revenue infrastructure in Akhnoor and also to construct Niabat building at Jourina on priority.
Sham also hinted at bringing reforms in the PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Departments and directed the officers to tone up their functioning strictly as per the expectations of the general masses. He said no laxity whatsoever at any level will be tolerated, maintaining that anybody found indulging in corrupt practices or delay tactics in official functioning will face suitable punishment. He directed improving work culture and punctuality in offices.
Minister of State for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation, Ajaz Ahmed Khan said that Government was paying focused attention to upgrade basic infrastructure in all vital sectors as per the needs of the people. The construction of Mini Secretariat was a step to bring people more close to the people and fill the gap between the administration and people, he added. He directed the executing agency to complete the project in a time bound manner. He asked the agency to keep provision of waiting hall, canteen and other facilities of public utility in the complex.
