| NC MP calls India 'chicken hearted' | | Sheds tears over Afzal hanging | | Early Times Report srinagar, Feb 21: It is ironical that while Afzal Guru was hanged for hatching the conspiracy of attack on Parliament, a Member of Parliament of the ruling National Conference has now joined those shedding tears on Guru's hanging. "The way India treated Afzal is a sordid tale and when you listen this tale with open ears, you lose faith in Indian democratic set up," said MP Ratanpuri while talking to a local news agency. "No Kashmiri can forget the 'mischievous smile' of Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shindey when he told media that it was difficult to hang Afzal without maintaining secrecy. I am surprised the way he smiled at that moment and how can we forget the atrocities committed by Government of India from time to time on Kashmir people," he added. "People say India is a big county but I call it chicken-hearted country. India breaks all rules when it comes to Kashmir. Isn't it shame that India didn't allow Afzal to meet his family before his execution?" he went on. Ratanpuri said that he had appealed President of India Pranab Mukherji to return the mortal remains of Mohammed Maqbool Butt and Mohammad Afzal Guru. "Such a big country with no ethical principles is responsible for the murder of Afzal Guru and now the sorry state is that he has been buried inside prison and his body is being denied to his family," the MP said. It is pertinent to mention here that playing to the galleries in Kashmir has been a time tested strategy of Kashmiri leaders, but with Member of Parliament resorting to India bashing, the National Conference has again been caught on the wrong foot with Farooq Abdullah maintaining that Guru's execution was in accordance with the law of the land, and his party's MP accusing the nation of being chicken hearted. |
