Neha Jammu, Feb 21: Chief patron of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) Bhim Singh has again done it. He on February 19 took a complete U-turn and demanded "confederation" of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, instead of reorganization of the State and separate Chief Minister and separate legislative Assembly, most notable part of his part's "Agenda -2011" and "Agenda-2012", which were made public with much fanfare in January 2011 and January 2012. He did not surprise anyone by taking this U-turn, as he is known for his inconsistency. That's the reason that the JKNPP has not been able to create for itself a strong and stable constituency in what he rightly calls Jammu Pradesh and that's the reason he himself could not achieve he actually deserved considering his organizational capabilities, mobility and contacts. That day, Bhim Singh not only took a complete U-turn as far as his stand on the Jammu cause was concerned, but he also disappointed the people of Jammu Pradesh by telling that he had written a letter to the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, asking him to set up a three member committee charged with the responsibility of deciding whether the body of Afzal Guru, who was hanged and buried in the Tihar Jail in Delhi on February 9, should be handed over to his family. "I have written to President (Pranab Mukherjee) and asked for formation of a three-member committee comprising the Law Minister, Attorney General and one independent senior advocate to decide whether Afzal's body should be handed over to his family)," he told reporters in Jammu. "Let the committee submit its report in two days on what law says on the matter," he also said, adding that the "family's wish should be respected". It needs to be noted that the JKNPP leadership till date has not appreciated the decision of the Government of India to bring to justice Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist Afzal Guru, who had planned to blast the Indian Parliament and liquidate the entire top leadership of the country. It was only on February 19 that any JKNPP leader spoke and when he spoke he virtually spoke the language of Kashmiri leaders, separatists and otherwise, and their supporters like Dilip Padgaonkar, Fali S Nariman, Gautam Navlakha, Prem Shanker Jha, Happymon Jacob, Vinod Sharma, Arundhati Roy, to mention only a few. In fact, he spoke the language which made the people question his very stand on India, national unity and integrity and scourge of terrorism that has led to the brutal killings of thousands of innocents during the past more than 26 years now. Indeed, Bhim Singh committed a grave mistake by virtually identifying him with that sentiment that is against the national sentiment. |
