| Civil Society demands justice for Bhat | | | Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Feb 21: Civil Society members from Rajouri have today questioned the stand of government in the inquiry being conducted by crime branch in the incident of mysterious death of a cop in the residence of Armed Police DySP about a year and three months back. Civil Society members have also demanded ex-gratia in favour of family of cop and benefits under SRO 43. Civil society members of Rajouri today held a press conference here in Rajouri in which some senior citizens and advocates took part. During this press conference members of civil Society questioned the post inquiry stand of government into the mysterious death of Shahid Bhat, a driver in IRP who died under mysterious circumstances at Sainik colony residence of Armed Police DySP in Jammu. Addressing this press conference senior Advocate Vibodh Gupta said that even after about one year and three months to this incident, family of deceased cop is waiting for justice and help from government. He said that in the inquiry being conducted by Crime Branch, three police officials have been termed guilty while case under section 306 RPC has been established but no FIR has been registered yet which questions the stand of government in the case. He also said that even after completion of crime Branch inquiry and approval from IGP crime Branch to register FIR under section 306, police authorities are mum in the case while no action has been taken against three police officials named in the crime branch inquiry. Vibodh Gupta also said that ex-gratia as well as benefit under SRO- 43 has not been provided to family of decease cop who is waiting for justice to be delivered since more than a year. Abdul Qayoom Bhat, father of deceased cop while addressing said that his family needs justice in the mysterious death incident of his son Shahid Bhat and also expressed resentment over the delayed approach of police administration in the case. |
