| Upgrading rural infra high on agenda of Govt: DyCM | | Sanctions Rs 6 lakhs from CDF | | | JAMMU, Feb 21: Reiterating resolve of the government to upgrade rural infrastructure, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said that development of remote and border belts is high on the agenda of the present dispensation and focused attention is being paid to equip these areas with all required modern infrastructure. He said work on the road map to address development aspirations of those living in far-flung areas has already begun and soon result of these initiatives would become visible on ground. "Development revolution launched by the government would be taken to every nook and corner of the state in order to ensure equitable development of all regions and sub-regions of the state," he added. He was addressing monthly public meeting at Pargwal, here today. Taking cognizance to the difficulty people face while crossing Chenab waters due to lack of bridge connectivity, the Deputy Chief Minister sanctioned Rupees Six Lacs from his CDF for purchase of new boats. All efforts have been initiated for ensuring direct connectivity with Khour through Pargwal Bridge and soon the dream would be realized, he added. Underscoring on the multi faceted role of panchayati raj institutions, Tara Chand said empowering people at grass root level through PRIs has ensured direct involvement of people in development of their respective areas, besides playing a major role in making people aware of various schemes and programs launched by the government from time to time. He called upon sarpanchs and panchs of the area to make sure that more and more people get themselves registered for availing benefits under prestigious schemes of SKEWPY, Labour schemes, kissan credit cards and other welfare schemes. "Mega registration camps have been organised in the area but response from people is not up to the expectation, now it is duty of each sarpanch and panch to ensure at least ten enrollments, so that benefit reaches to maximum number of people," he added. He said soon mega camp would be held for distributing cheques to various beneficiaries covered under IAY and other social welfare schemes. "All those involved in the model village project should gear up their efforts and complete the works before March, so as to fully utilize the funds made available for this prestigious project," he added. Calling Sarpanchs and Panchs of the area to coordinate with field functionaries, Tara Chand said work programme has been prepared by involving local representatives and now they should play active role in execution, by making sure that quality as well as time schedule is maintained for the project. |
