Jammu, Feb 21: Several Sikh Organizations have expressed dissatisfaction over the proposal of reservation of wards for women in Local Bodies Elections. According to press release, a joint deputation of various Sikh Organizations on Thursday called on Joint Election Commissioner, Jammu Charandeep Singh and expressed their resentment against the action of Election Commission. They presented their objections to Joint Commissioner for rotation of Jammu Municipal wards and expressed their resentment over issue relating to proposal for the reservation of women in Municipal Corporation. They said that some rules should be framed on the pattern of MLA's & MP's for three time tenure for contesting of election, in spite of one year. "Some seats should be reserved for POK refugees and Sikh candidates, in those localities where the refugees are residing, while the state government should also pass a bill in the present assembly session so that they can also do the development of their localities in the municipal limits" they demanded. Joint commissioner assured to submit the objections to Chief Election Commissioner for necessary action. The delegation was head by President, All India Sikh students Federation Paramjit Singh, besides Mohinder Singh Chief organizer, Bhai Kanaya Nishkam Seva Society J&K, Narbir Singh, President, Shiromal Youth Akali Dal, S.Kulwant Singh, Chief Advisor Sikh Naujawan Sabha and S.Dharminder Singh Bargav were among the delegation members. |
