Rigorous life term awarded to two brothers for killing brother in law

Jammu, Feb -21 (JNF): Principal Sessions Judge Bhaderwah Brij Mohan Gupta today awarded rigorous life-imprisonment and fine off Rs 10,000 each to accused Rattan Lal a police cop and Kashmir Singh alias Kirpa Ram both sons of Sant Ram r/o Kansar Tehsil Bahderwah who committed the murder of their close relative Jia Lal. Principal Sessions Judge Bhaderwah Brij Mohan Gupta today after hearing Public Prosecutor Fareed Hussain Beigh for the state whereas Adv Abdul Wahid appearing for the accused persons Section 302 RPC observed life imprisonment may be an adequate punishment which would serve the ends of justice and this case do not fall in the category of rarest of rare for awarding death sentence. "Accused persons namely Rattan Lal and Kashmir Singh alias Kirpa Ram who were convicted under sections 302/342/34 RPC are hereby sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life under section 302/34 RPC and fine of Rs. 10,000/-(Rupees ten thousand) each, court said. "In default of payment of fine they shall further undergo six months rigorous imprisonment, court said and added, "the duo is also sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for one year under section 342 RPC and fine of Rs. 1000/- (Rupees one thousand) each. In default of payment of fine they shall further undergo two months rigorous imprisonment. All the sentences shall run concurrently. According to the police case on 14-1-2004 BMO from Bhaderwah hospital gave information in Police Station Bhaderwah through telephone that one person namely Jia Lal is admitted in the hospital in injured condition. In his statement injured Jia Lal stated that on the day of Lohri when he was coming to home with his brother-in-laws Kashmir Singh alias Kirpa Ram and Rattan Lal they had a scuffle and the duo attacked him. The injured thereafter for further treatment was referred to Jammu where he died and police filed a case FIR No: 7/2004 u/s 302, 34, RPC and presented challan in the Court.
