Jammu, Feb 21: The vehicular movement in Shaheedi Chowk area remained paralysed today for around two hours, due to protest demonstration staged by parents and relatives of Suruchi, a seventh standard student of Delhi Public School (DPS), who was crushed to death by school bus inside school premises on February 7. The protesters were demanding stringent action against the school administration, for the killing of girl. Parents of Surchi along with more than four hundred people including parents of other students and school students under the banner of Parents Association, took out peaceful procession from Raghutnath Chowk to DPS school gate, today afternoon. The protesting students and their parents raised slogans against the school management. Angered parents of Suruchi, said that they had given a written complaint to the school management but nothing has been done so far, which has compelled them to come on road. They also said that the killing of Suruchi, had exposed the lack of proper transportation arrangements in the school. One of the protester alleged that the school administration has been using old buses for the last many years, and there was hardly any space available for parking in the premises. They also castigated that instead of paying regular school fees including bus charges, security charges, the school administration was unable to provide better bus services. "When they drop students at bus stop the driver and conductors do not bother to help students in road crossing", they said. They appealed district administration to handover the case to Central Bureau Investigation for proper probe of the matter, besides demanding stern action against the school administration, which was least bothered about the security of students. Meanwhile, on the assurance of Additional Divisional Commissioner the protesters called off the protest. |
