Rajouri, Feb 23: Relatives of a pregnant lady who died allegedly due to negligence of a doctor attending her, blocked the Jammu-Poonch highway today. Theu raised slogans against the administration and demanded an enquiry into the death. The angry relatives said the doctors at Sunderbani hospital failed to treat Swama Devi who was in the last month of pregnancy. She was referred to Jammu around 11 p.m last night. However, she was declared brought dead by the Jammu hospital. A senior official of the Sunderbani hospital admitted Swama was inbad shape and had high blood pressure. "She died an hour before reaching the Srwal hospital", he said. Reports said that family took her body from Sarwal hospital Jammu and cremated her at about 3 pm in Sundarbani this afternoon. Later relatives lodged massive protest demonstration against doctors and and local administration and blocked the Jammu-Poonch highway. They have demanded an inquiry into alleged negligence of the doctor who attended her at Sunderbani hospital. "An enquiry comprising two doctors, BMO concerned and the Tehsildar from other Tehsil will be ordered. Those found guilty shall be punished", he said. |
