Early Times Report

Srinagar, Feb 24: In what can be seen a political punch on NC's rhetoric on its slogan of autonomy, BJP leadership today asserted that autonomy document of National Conference (NC) could only be implemented on their dead bodies. The leadership while demanding repeal of Article 370, reiterated its intention to unfurl tricolor in civil secretariat in place of the state and NC flag.
Senior leader of BJP Ashok Khajuria even warned of bloodshed in the State and asked the NC to 'shut its mouth' on autonomy demand. "It (NC) has to walk over dead bodies of BJP MLA's for the restoration of autonomy", he maintained. Reiterating the commitment to furl the tricolor in civil secretariat replacing State and NC flag, he said, "We insist on our demand the repeal of Article 370 and it'll be done in near future".
The BJP leader also lashed out at government for not allowing VHP leader Praveen Togadia to enter Jammu two days back. Criticizing the deporting move, VHP leader from Jammu airport, he said, "We're in democracy and everyone has a right to express his views and to move freely anywhere in the Country. It is a blunder on part of the state government". However, when reminded that a case also stands registered against Togadia for creating communal disharmony through hate speeches, the BJP leader quipped ,"Law is there to take action and to book the accused", he said.
Refusing to draw a parallel with Syed Ali Shah Geelani in terms of what he defended the right to express his views and move freely in a democracy, the BJP leader said there is a reason why the that parameter could not be adopted with Hurriyat leader. "What Geelani is speaking about Jihad and his comments speak of his intent to create division of country", he observed.
The BJP leader said Abdullah family should sit in a room to decide as to what they actually want. They seem to be directionless , he said , adding , 'Uncle, father and son were making conflicting statements within the family and acting as astray children'.
"NC is a party of divided family (members) where uncle (Dr. Mustafa Kamaal), father (Dr. Farooq Abdullah) and son (Omar Abdullah) are speaking different languages. It doesn't have any particular vision. All of them should sit in a family room to decide what they actually want", Khajuria explained, in a sarcastic tone.
Meanwhile, leader of rebel MLA's of BJP Chaman Lal Gupta said that NC is living in fool's paradise. "It might have got autonomy had it been serious about it. NC is creating the drama for its vote bank", said Gupta. "NC has closed the chapter of autonomy much earlier and accepted that it (Autonomy) will never happen", he added.
