| Shift private schools from heart of Jammu city: PDP | | | Et Plus Report
Jammu, Mar, 5: PDP member Syed Asgar Ali today demanded shifting of big private schools in the heart of Jammu city to its peripheries. During a question regarding private schools in the Legislative Council today, Asgar alleged, "Mushrooming of big private schools in Jammu city has lead to huge traffic congestion as the schools have deployed hundred of buses for transportation of these students". He added, "The rising numbers of schools and buses has contributed in the difficulties of traffic of Jammu city and at times have resulted in human tragedies. One of the girl students was also killed by school bus. Authorities seek for parking facilities before the opening of banquet halls and banks, why the same rules are not applied prior to opening of these schools. Why these schools are being allowed to operate in densely populated areas of the city?" Minister for education Feroz Khan informed the house, "To ascertain the traffic congestion due to school buses, government has constituted a committee comprising of school administration, traffic department and transport department. The committee will also establish that whether these schools are following the Supreme Court guidelines. We will take a decision on reallocation of schools or whether these buses need to reconfigured after the findings of the report, Minster added.Agar asked minister to give a specific time to when this report will come out. |
