| If Mehbooba shows concern for Guru, Omar has to break down | | | ET Plus Report
JAMMU, Mar 5: After political bickering on Afzal Guru hanging between ruling NC and opposition PDP, it was Maqbool Bhat's hanging and its related historical aspects that became loud in the Legislative Assembly with allegations and counter allegations that were echoed by both the parties while accusing each other responsible for Bhat's death. While the two parties have been exchanging accusations for the last three days over Maqbool Bhat issue as well, a fresh spate of squabbling started today during the discussion on Governor's address when PDP stalwart Muzaffar Hussain Baig was speaking. Soon after he concluded, Minister of Higher Education Akbar Lone got up on his seat and suddenly started making pointed gestures towards Baig with grave accusation that he was the 'killer' of Maqbool Bhat. Lone leveled this serious allegation while making a reference of Baig's connection in the matter in capacity of a lawyer way back when Bhat's case was sought to be contested by him . An agitated Lone raised his arms repeatedly and pointed towards Baig alleging that he was responsible for execution of Bhat as he did not contest the case despite money having been given to him by late Abdul Gani Lone . " Aap Maqbool Bhat Kay Katil Ho…..Hamney Chanda Kiya Aur Case Kay Liye Paisey Aapko Diye…Lakein Aaap Court Main Nahi Aaayey Aur Kahni Chipaya Rahe…( We collected money for you to contest the case but you did not appear in the court when the case came up and disappeared somewhere)…..", was the outburst of Akbar Lone loaded with grave allegations. While he continued to say this , he used the name of Nizamudin Bhat a senior PDP leader, contending "he too was witness to what I am saying about money having been collected for you (Baig)..".
The remarks irked the members of PDP including president Mehbooba Mufti who sought to clarify the allegations since Nizamdin's name had also been dragged. "Aaapkay Aiasay Ilzamat Say Afzal Guru Kay Khoon Kay Dhabbay Saaph Nahi Hongey…..(by raising such wild allegations you cannot wash off hands in Guru's murder….", Mehbooba said angrily adding that whether it was Maqbool Bhat or Guru, both have been killed when NC was at the helm of affairs. While PDP members were protesting Akbar Lone's remarks, Nizamudin Bhat too got up and came to front row dismissing these as false and baseless." Yeh Sarasar Jhoot Hai ….Aap Jhoot Bolkar Kisi Kay Naam Ko Exploit Karna Chaahe Hain…..(this is sheer lie….and injustice with someone (Ganai Lone ), who is no more in this world. Refusing to relent, Lone got up once again and continued with his spree of allegations in the matter. This provoked Baig to stand to clarify his position amid din from both sides. |
