Skips reply on Governors address as PDP stages walkout
Omar gets emotional over death of Baramulla youth

JAMMU, Mar 5: In what can be seen as something unprecedented, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today chose to skip reply on Governors Address after opposition PDP raised storm in the Legislative Assembly over killing of a youth in Baramulla. After PDP staged walkout from the House, a visibly upset Omar Abdullah chose not to speak in wake of killing of a youth in Baramulla, contending it was in view of such incidents and aberrations he is raising voice over partial revocation of AFSPA from State.
It sounded so that Omar Abdullah found it hard to start his address as he turned quite emotional over the fresh incident that rocked the Assembly as well.
In a choked voice, Chief Minister while referring towards opposition PDP said, "I do not understand why they are so desperate to cling on CM's chair. They did nothing wrong by staging a walkout……. I am as much pained as they are but my chair does not allow me to do the same. Every time there was news of deaths in the State, the PDP always blamed me, when it was hardly my fault."
"I am questioning myself why a youth was killed by security forces in Baramulla. As per my information there was no militant present in the procession. Why the procession was fired in such a manner, even if they pelted stones, there was no need of firing on them", Omar questioned.
Controlling his emotions Omar added, "I am finding hard to speak after knowing about this unfortunate incident. We did not opt to be a part of Indian union to witness such an incident". On hanging of Afzal Guru, Omar said, "Hanging of Afzal Guru is done somewhere else, mercy petition is rejected somewhere else. But entire blame was put on me. Which door should I knock? What I can say to the family of deceased youth".
Once again raising the pitch for revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), Omar said, "It is not politics when I demand for repealing of AFSPA from Jammu and Kashmir. I cannot get the life of youth back, nor do I have any answer in the regard. What system we are talking about, State Government can take no action against that erring security personnel. Security forces should have showed some restraint." He added, "What is fun of talking about development, hospitals and roads when incidents like these keep on haunting us. Whenever we believe that situation is turning to normalcy, such incidents peg us back." "I cannot act like PDP, but will raise my voice on this atrocity. It should not happen to anybody. It is very easy to say that everything is in the hand of Chief Minister and nothing happens without his knowledge. Was everything happened as per the wishes of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed when he was the Chief Minister?. People are desperate to sit on CM's chair", said Omar.
On labeling him (Omar Abdullah) as third rated daily wager by Muzaffar Hussain Beig yesterday, Omar said, "I am a daily wager, but third rated or not I do not know. The day I think that I have become a permanent then there will be no difference between me and Kings". "I assure, that I will get answer in the matter maybe I have to toil hard for that. I am not emotional to blame India for this misdemeanor. It is a mistake of few people", he added."
"I will not be able to get youth's life back. I will not be able to speak about development and other issues. I extend my sympathies to kin of the deceased", Omar concluded.
Earlier, opposition PDP and Independent member Engineer Rashid created ruckus in the House over killing of youth at Baramulla. Not satisfied with the reply of Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mir Saifullah, PDP members and Engineer Rashid stood on their seats alleging insensitiveness from Government.
Rashid trooped to the well of House amid sloganeering. Speaker later ordered to marshals to vacate him out of the House. PDP members stood on their seats shouting slogans of "Kashmirion Ko Marna Sasta Ho Gaya Hai. Kashmarion Ka Khoon Itna Sasta Kyon Ho Gaya Hai".
PDP members questioned, "Why such incidents happen every day. It is the height of Governments helplessness. Why the efforts were not made to save the youth". Charging Government with ineptness to control situation, Mehbooba Mufti led by PDP members staged walkout.
