Omar briefs governor on law and order

Jammu, Mar 9 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah called on Governor N.N. Vohra Saturday and discussed the state's law and order situation and annual plan, an official spokesman said.
"The chief minister briefed the governor about the management of public order issues in the Valley consequent to certain recent incidents," said the spokesman, adding that the meeting lasted for over one hour. The Valley has witnessed tension since March 5 when 24-year-old Tahir Lateef Sofi, among the protestors demanding the return of executed parliament attack convict Afzal Guru's body, was killed allegedly in firing by security forces in north Kashmir's Baramulla. A total of about 230 people, including protestors and security personnel, were injured in clashes since then in the valley and many sensitive parts placed under curfew.
The governor and the chief minister also discussed several other important matters, including the release of annual plan funds by the central government.
