AKHNOOR, Mar 9: Taking serious note of poor management in the functioning of some water installations, Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma today ordered suspension of one Junior Engineer, Mr. Som Nath Verma and called explanation of two Assistant Executive Engineers namely Sandeep Singh (Civil) and Anil Gupta (Mechanical) of PHE Sub-Division, Khour. Besides, he also ordered attachment of permanent staff manning the Water Supply Scheme (WSS), Old Kote Maira and dis-engagement of temporary workers with immediate effect. During the inspection of various WSSs in the jurisdiction of Sub-Division, Khour, the Minister found poor mismanagement of these schemes and also found some employees absent from the duty and he ordered for the immediate action. He directed the Chief Engineer, PHE to ensure work culture in all PHE establishments strictly and anybody found violating the instructions should be punished under rules. The Minister also inspected the on-going repair and renovation works on Pratap Canal and its tributaries at several places between Jourian and Khour sections. Expressing satisfaction over the progress of works, the Minister directed the engineers to further speed up the pace and accomplish the renovation works on entire stretch of canal and its tributaries, so that the water is released well in time. He also issued instructions to the concerned to remove all kinds of encroachments along the canal and restore its original look so that the water discharges upto the tail end. The Minister also visited in several areas along the boarder and took stock of the problems, especially related to drinking water and irrigational facilities. The areas visited included, village Rajwal, Panjtoot, Choudhrewala, Kaleeth, Tangri, Planwala, Plattan, Sailanwali and other adjoining localities. |
