Jammu, Mar 9: The Minister for Higher Educa-tion Muhammad Akbar Lone paid a surprise visit of Government College of Engineering and Techno-logy, Jammu, Gover-nment Degree College, Paloura and Government College of Education, Jammu, Satu-rday and took stock of functioning of these colleges. He also checked the attendance of the staff of these colleges and interacted with management, faculty and students. During the inspection it was found that the Principal of the Government College of Engineering and Technology had not complied with the instructions of the Minister to shift in new campus, complete in all respects. Taking serious view of the non-compliance of the orders within one month, the Minister ordered attachment of the Principal with the Nodal Principal Science College, Jammu with immediate effect. Lone also issued instructions to handover the charge of the Principal to the next senior most Professor immediately. During the visit of the GDC Paloura, the Minister interacted with the faculty members of the College and took stock of its functioning. He visited various examinations centres set up in the College. The Minister was informed that the College has been established in 2008 and at present as many as 537 students are enrolled in various classes in the College. While inspecting Government College of Education, the Minister checked the attendance register and found a master, Reeta Sharma absent from duty unauthorised. He instructed the Principal of the College to seek an explanation from the concerned master and submit report immediately. He also inspected the class rooms and interacted with the students and the teaching staff. Director Colleges, Dr. Nalni Kohli accompanied the Minister during the inspection. |
