| LMD intensified checking on Shivratari | | | et plus report
Jammu, Mar 9: Acting on the frequent complaints of overcharging and on the direction of Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma the department of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) conducted extensive checking of traders on the eve of Mahashivratri dealing with selling of consumable commodities including mutton outlets in various localities.
During the surprise inspection the LMD team conducted raids in Janipur,Newplot,Bantalab and Muthi area and a team led by Joint Controller Amar Singh & Deputy Controller enforcement Manoj Prabhakar inspected over 20 establishments and booked traders for violating the norms.
Inspector Pooja booked the traders for deceiving the consumers by the way of overcharging and for manipulating with weighing Instruments for delivering less to the consumers. All the traders were booked under the provisions of Weights & Measures Act and the deceptive instruments were seized. The team directed the traders to charge consumers as per the rate fixed by the authorities otherwise strict action will be initiated against the defaulters. |
