ET Plus Report Jammu, Mar 16: Jammu and Kashmir Government seems to be befooling people of Jammu on the name of installing Mubarak Mandi-Bagh-e-Bahu ropeway project for past many years. State Government hasn't yet completed formalities of Forest, Environment and Wildlife clearances. In a reply to question raised by Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) MLA Ashok Khajuria, the Government said that they are still waiting for Forest, Environment and Wildlife clearance and getting the land after providing compensation to owners. Government for past four years hasn't come out of this and has not been able to get these clearances. In every Assembly session, when this question is raised, Government comes up with same kind of reply every time and hasn't been able to make any headway in getting clearances despite allotting work to Kolkata based Damodar Cable Car Corporation. Government few years back has announced coming up of Mubarak Mandi to Bagh-e-Bahu cable car project connecting Mohmaya area across river Tawi to promote tourism in Jammu city but this project was not taken up by department of Tourism over these years. This is showing how serious Government is about the project which was considered to be the dream project for tourism promotion in the winter capital. Criticizing Government for slow process on starting this project, MLA Bishnah, Ashwani Sharma told Early Time Plus that Government over the years is coming up with same kind of reply. "Saying that Forest and other clearances are still awaiting, Government is befooling people which has shown that they are not serious about starting this project." "There was no delay in Forest and Environment clearances when Government installed Gulmarg to Afarvat ropeway project but when it comes to Jammu, they take time and delay projects," Ashwani said, adding that Government must expedite the process to complete the project. In the written answer, Government has claimed that J&K Cable Car Corporation has provided money to Power Development Department (PDD) for providing the assistance all this has gone vain as the Rs 19 crore project is facing the apathy from Government in getting clearances from various departments. |
