Jammu, Mar 16: This happens only in Omar's Government, IAS officers who are accused in the land scam while serving as DC Udhampur and DC Baramulla have been posted as Director School Education Jammu and Director Panchayati Raj by the State Cabinet which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah yesterday in Jammu.
Pertinent to mention that Police recently registered a case against PK Pole IAS who was Deputy Commissioner Udhampur till Friday on the directions of the State Vigilance Organisation in an alleged land scam in Katra town of Reasi district. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, PK Pole for his alleged involvement in registration of 206 kanals 13 marlas land in favour of a Delhi based firm for constructing a hotel and resort near Katra town. An FIR has been registered on the directions of the State Vigilance Organisation under FIR No 13/2013 against PK Pole and Naib Tehsildar, Reasi Sher Singh Thappa at Reasi police station.
Pertinent to mention that Pole had earlier, served as Deputy Commissioner, Reasi few years back.
The Omar Abdullah lead Government claims and talks about talking numerous steps to curb corruption from Jammu and Kashmir which is considered as one of the most corrupt States in the country but the posting of PK Pole is a clear indication that Government is not at all sincere about curbing the menace of corruption.
Only few weeks back the Chief Minister himself provided the details about this particular IAS officer in the written reply to the question posed by National Panthers Party (NPP) MLA from Udhampur, Balwant Singh Mankotia in the Legislative Assembly. The MLA has asked the Government details of the officers against whom the corruption cases are pending before the State Vigilance Organization as on January 1, 2013 and the reply was Farooq Ahmad Geelani (IFS), the then Chief Executive Officer (CEO) IWDP Rambiara, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat (KAS), the then ACD Anantnag, Baseer Ahmad Khan (IAS), the then Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Abdul Majid Mir (KAS), the then Director CAPD Kashmir, Adil Rashid Naqash (KAS), the then Additional District Commissioner Pulwama, Hemant Kumar (KAS), the then Director CAPD Jammu, Mukhtar-ul-Aziz (KAS), the then Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Vinod Koul (IAS), the then Relief Commissioner (Migrants), Jammu, Ghulam Nabi Balwan (KAS), the then Assistant Commissioner Development, Ghulam Ahmad Khawaja (KAS) and PK Pole (IAS), the then Deputy Commissioner Reasi.
Similarly Baseer Ahmad Khan has been transferred from the post of DC Srinagar to head newly created Directorate of Panchayati Raj which is also considered to be an important department in view of the funds allotted by the Govt of India. Baseer Khan was inducted into IAS few years back in spite of the fact that he has corruption charges pending in SVO while he was DC Baramulla and during that time the infamous Gulmarg land scam took place when Ghulam Nabi Azad passed Roshni Act .
The matter of concern is that while clearing the names of these officers for the new assignments didn't Omar Abdullah knew that they are indicted in scams ? |
