“Dr Munir Masoodi slapped me thrice on my face, kicked my back and pushed me to wall,” Shamima Banoo from Fathekadal area of Srinagar told reporters with tearful eyes in Press Enclave Srinagar adding she could not bear this insult and is intending to commit suicide.
Narrating her woeful tale, Shamima Bano said that she has admitted her three month old granddaughter, Fariya Shabir in G.B.Hospital on Friday night. “Being an attendant, I had laid a blanket in corridor and was sitting there. Suddenly, Medical Superintendent, Dr Munir Masoodi passed from the corridor and asked me to leave the corridor.
As I was packing up my blanket, he (Munir Masoodi) without any reason shouted at me and kicked and slapped me. I was dumbfound and when tears rolled from my eyes, all the attendants present their rebuked the MS but to my total surprise he threatened them all,” she said.
The woman said that the Doctor slapped her face thrice, kicked her back and forcibly pushed her to wall. “I could not bear this insult. I am forty plus, mother of two and a grandmother as well, how can the head of a hospital behave like a wild animal and take law in his own hands?” she questioned.
Her son Shabir Ahmed said that when he raised finger over this hooliganism of the Doctor, “He threatened me and told me that he will call the SHO of Ram Munshi Bagh and will lodge me in jail. Number of people including some nurses complained about his hooliganism there,” he said.
The doctor was not available for comment. However, when contacted, Medical Education Minister, Taj Mohi-u-Din told a local news agency that he will look into the matter. “No one is allowed to beat anyone. I will direct the Principal Government Medical College to visit the Hospital and ascertain the facts,” Taj said adding that Dr Munir Masoodi has changed the look of the hospital.
