Jammu, Aug 2 : The Engine of Himkunt Express (14609) derailed from the track on Jammu Pathankot railway link in Samba following landslide on the track, this morning. However, no one was injured. According to the sources, the incident occurred when a train which was heading towards Jammu Railway station from Haridwar, when its engine derailed from the train after debris of landslides fell on the track disputing rail like for over six hours." As the railway authorities had installed a caution board along the track, the driver was running the train slowly and it averted major tragedy. No bogy derailed from the track except front tyres of the engine," the sources said. They said that immediately after the incident, the Pathankot Railway authorities swung into action and they sent an Accident Rescue Train to Samba."Additional engine was attached at the end of the train at the back side and it was taken to the Samba railway station," the sources said, adding the track was opened for traffic following the removal of derailed engine. The senior police officials from GRP and Railway authorities rushed to the spot and they supervised the work. After six hours, the Himkunt train was allowed to head for Jammu Railway station around 10 AM. |
