| 'Abdullah's beg Cong to stay together, Kamaal leaves Modi behind' | | NC's mischievous 'double standards' | | Syed Junaid Hashmi JAMMU, Aug 2: Jammu and Kashmir Congress is in quandary over what they describe as mischievous 'double standards' of the leadership of National Conference (NC). Party is pondering "While Patron of the Party Dr. Farooq Abdullah alongwith President Omar Abdullah have been making knee deep efforts to convince Congress in New Delhi of keeping the alliance intact for the upcoming Assembly as well as Parliamentary elections, senior party leader and Additional General Secretary Dr. Mustafa Kamaal alongwith some other senior members have been left to 'abuse' Congress in public." He has been spitting venom against Congress in public and if his utterances during the tour of erstwhile District Doda are any indication, Congress leaders maintain that he is best suited to be appointed as National Spokesman of BJP. They do not hesitate in saying that Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narinder Modi would love to have a Congress basher like Kamaal on his side. Congress leaders further said that Kamaal has left several 'foul mouthed' opponents of Congress at the national level behind. They are amazed over New Delhi's discreet silence over the 'abusive, irrational and morally unjustified' behaviour of Kamaal. What makes these developments interesting is the fact that despite crossing all possible limits of decent human behaviour, Kamaal has gone on unscathed with Farooq and Omar both treading a cautious rope by terming his statements as 'unfortunate'. Congress leaders maintain that with an eye of the Kashmiri electorate, Kamaal speaks what he wants and then, Omar and Farooq follow. Omar tweets 'He has made my task difficult' and Farooq talks to media "My brother speaks non-sense and should not be taken seriously." But Congress leaders await action against Kamaal since they believe coalition partners are not supposed to wash their dirty linen in public. The same is not forthcoming. This has been the case since the last four years. Congress in Jammu and Kashmir is unable to retort in the same tone and tenor. Ask for the reason and you are told that 'If NC is foul mouthed, we cannot be so. We have to respect coalition Dharma since the high command has told us to do so." They further say that reaction would lead to further deterioration of even the working relationship between the two coalition partners. "Omar should see what his uncle is doing. They beg for keeping the coalition intact in New Delhi and here, the party is abusing our leaders in full public view. If they have any percentage of morality left in them, they should leave and allow us to form Government on our own. But we know, they cannot afford. So, they should keep their mouth shut and talk sense. Even people are now laughing at their non-sensical behaviour," said a senior Congress leader from New Delhi. He added that Congress is debating Kamaal's nonsense at all levels in the state as well as in New Delhi. "They abused the PCC President, called our tallest leader Ghulam Nabi Azad a liar, are trying to damage Jammu based Congress leaders yet we have restrained ourselves. They have no option but we have options. They should keep this in their mind as and when they speak against Congress," added another Congress leader. |
