| Another tremor stirs pent up anger against Omar Govt | | | Et Report Jammu, Aug 2 : Anguish is brewing amongst locals at Doda-Kishtwar belt for inability of the State and the union governments to extend any help to them despite repeated tremors that have caused extensive damage to their properties and forced them to live under continuous fear. It was first on May 1, when earthquake jolted Doda-Kishtwar belt following which dozens of aftershocks gave people sleepless nights and fearful days. The damage suffered in earthquake was visible but governments ignored it and left the people to fend for themselves. Friday's quake has yet again jolted the people and stirred up the pent up anger. "The Omar Abdullah government in the state and Manmohan Singh led union government must make their stand clear whether they want the area should remain part of the world or it should be taken out of the world map." said resident expressing anger. "The approach adopted by both these government is a clear message that the Doda-Kishtwar belt is mere money making machine for them and people of the area hardly matter to them" he added. "The state government is hell bent upon sending this Chenab valley to the Stone Age because the area gave strong jolt to National Conference in 2008 elections and in 2014 and government seems to be taking revenge from the people of area of not voting for NC in 2008 elections and becoming the stronghold of Ghulam Nabi Azad" said a senior citizen. "After the May 1, quake in Doda-Kishtwar belt, the chief minister Omar Abdullah delayed his visit t the area due to which he came under strong attack from his rivals and after that when Azad was trying to a relief and rehabilitation package for the quake victims, it was Omar Abdullah who interfered leading to rejection of package by the central government" he added. The anger is brewing amongst the locals like never before against Omar government for its failure to get relief from the centre for the quake victims of the area. |
