Army extends helping hand to women

SRINAGAR, Aug 2: In order to upliftment and self empowerment of women, Army today formed a mentor group for enterprising 25 local women to establish a Self Help Group at Magam.
The infrastructure, financial assistance and guidance to the women to form a self help group exploring the avenues in stitching, knitting, embroidery and candle making is being provided by the local Rashtriya Rifles unit.
Self Help Group Magam was inaugurated by Muzaffer Ahmed Pir, ADC Handwara, Syed Shabir Indrabi, Block Development Officer Handwara.
The initiative has provided these poor women of the society a new window not only to showcase their skills but also support their families in livelihood.
As a result they have made an impact on other ladies of the area also to follow the path. The positive welfare initiatives which the Army is undertaking are based on the numerous requests by the locals & their aspirations.
