| Truckers block highway over death of colleague | | |

Kathua, Aug 2: Two groups of trucker Unions Govindsar in Kathua clashed following the issue of an murderous assault on a truck union member S Gulzar Singh by one S Kuldeep Singh alias-Kingu and his associate Kalu members of the other union here today.
As per sources member of the truck union S Gulzar Singh received fatal injuries after he was attacked by his rival and later succumbed to injuries at District Hospital Kathua.
Soon the news of his death reached to his supporters they took to roads and blocked the Jammu Pathankote Highway at Hatli to lodge their protest against the self styled truck union president Kuldeep Singh-Kingu for murderous assault on S Gulzar Singh.
Protestors led by the Amreek Singh also raised fingers to the suspicious role of Police Post Hatli Morh allegedly favoring criminal and anti union elements. The agitated protestors also went on rampage and damaged some vehicles. Later senior police officials rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters and persuaded the protesters to lift the blockades to resume the traffic on highway. |
