20 kgs of Nag Chattri recovered, two held

Kishtwar Aug 2: Two persons were arrested towday alongwith banned medicinal herb popularly known as 'Naag Chatri' which was recovered from their possession by a joint naka team of Police and Army at Chinal Dandu falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Chatroo of district Kishtwar today. According to police reports on receipt of reliable information regarding smuggling of Nag Chattri botanically known as Trillidium govinianum from Chatroo area, a joint naka of Police & Army 11 RR was established at Chinal Dandu .
The naka team intercepted a Tata Sumo (JK17/1620), and questioned the occupants in the vehicle namely Farooq Ahmed Gujjar S/O Gh. Mohd and Hussain Ahmed S/O Ilam Din both resident of Pehalgwari, who failed to satisfactory replies to naka team further substantiating the suspicion of naka team. The team during thorough search of vehicle recovered 20 Kgs of Nag Chattri and both the accused were arrested on spot, reports said. A case against the accused against FIR No 63/2013u/s 6/13 Forest Act stands registered at P/S Chatroo.
