Early Times Report

Srinagar, Aug 2 : Jammu and Kashmir government today said it has already cleared the application of the engineer son of a former militant for issuance of a passport. "On the instructions of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, I checked the IGP CID about the application of Mehraj-ul-Asrar Bhawani. His application has been cleared on July 25," chief minister's political secretary Tanvir Sadiq told PTI. Son of former JKLF militant Bashir Ahmed from Anatnag district, Bhawani had claimed last week that he was denied passport due to his father's background. Bhawani had applied for a passport after he was offered a job in a software firm in the the United States of America. Sadiq said he has spoken to the youth and assured him that his passport will be issued today and he would receive it within one week. "There has been a communication gap. His case was cleared during the public hearing at CID office last week on Thursday," Sadiq added. Sadiq said chief minister has made it clear that no one can be denied travel document even if their relative were involved in anti-national activities in the past.
