PDP Ex-Servicemen Cell criticizes state for sidelining 're-employment of ex-servicemen'

Kathua, Aug 8: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ex-Servicemen Wing held its meeting in Kathua under the presidentship of Capt Anil Gour, State President Ex-Servicemen Wing to take stock of various problems being faced by ex servicemen. Members criticized the refusal of the J&K Govt to implement the Re-Employment Reservation Policy for Ex-Servicemen in State Govt jobs.
A large number of Ex-Servicemen from Village Kharote, Barwal, Janglote, Nagri, Logate and adjoining villages attended the meeting in large numbers and discussed the various problems being faced by them due to the apathy of the successive & present State Govt At the onset of meeting a two minutes silence in the memory of the five soldiers martyred in Poonch sector was observed. Condemning the Pakistan Govt & its Army for this gross violation of the Ceasefire Agreement by being hand-in-glove with the some terror outfits perform this cowardly act, PDP leader Capt Anil Gour observed Indian Army is capable of giving a befitting reply to our enemies including Pakistan and Pak Government should try to maintain peace on the borders by reining in forces hell bent to disturb the peace in sub continent.
Capt Gour also criticized the refusal of the J&K Govt to implement the 're-employment reservation policy for ex-servicemen in State Govt jobs and demanded that special Eco-Task Force & Disaster Management Force battalions should be created consisting of only these Ex-Servicemen to ensure their gainful employment.
Capt Gour also highlighted the fact that even though the total number of Serving & Ex-servicemen with their dependents has crossed 07lakh, the present State Govt. lacks the will to even implement the decisions that were taken to provide welfare measures to the Ex-Servicemen & Veer Naris & wards of the Martyrs.
Members also were critical of the VAT being levied on all CSD sales in the State and urged J&K Govt to follow its neighbours Himachal & Rajasthan that have exempted VAT from all CSD sales. Capt Gour demanded that ECHS facility should be available with more hospitals within the state & new dispensaries opened in interior areas of Kathua & Samba districts.
He also demanded the speedy transfer of Land in Jindrah to the Ministry of Defence, Govt of India; to establish Brig Rajinder Singh Hostel for Veer Naris & Wards of Martyrs.
During today's meeting Capt Gour also announced JKPDESW Kathua District committee with N.Sub Angrez Singh Jasrotia (Advocate) as Convenor, Sub Talvir Singh; Dfr Balwan Singh as members. Among others who also spoke on the occasion were Distt President Kathua (Urban) Gurprasad Verma; Chairman PDTU Kathua Manohar Singh, Distt President Kathua PDTU, Ranbir Singh Jasrotia, Gen Secretary PDTU S. Supinder Singh and Zone Presidents.
