SRINAGAR, Aug 8: Separatist are likely to revive 2010 like conditions in Kashmir on eid day to disturb lawlessness and give birth to a long season of strikes and curfews. According to the details received, as the hardliner separatist faction led by Syed Ali shah Geelani has called people to protest on Eid day against the hanging of parliament convict Afzal Guru in Tihar Jail and asked people to demand with much stress his dead body from the Government, sources revealed that environment is being created to disturb law and order and give birth to a season of strikes and curfews for a longer time this time in Kashmir.
Sources inside the separatist factions said that a pre planned strategy will be implemented on Eid day in main towns of Kashmir to launch a protest demonstration against India and create an environment of strikes and curfews which was seen after 2010 Eid procession started from burning of some Government offices in Srinagar after a protest march was led by Mirwaiz, Umar Farooq led separatist faction. Sources said that as per the strategy weaved, Geelani will lead a protest march soon after Eid Prayers from Dargah Hazratbal Srinagar and will march towards Lal Chowk where he will address the people and announce a future strategy of protests in Kashmir, besides other members of the same faction will lead protest demonstrations in other towns of Kashmir so that a wave of protest could be launched on the same across the Kashmir to give birth to ugly conditions.
Sources also said that incase Geelani will not be allowed to offer Eid prayers Dargah Hazratbal keeping in view the security. In his two recent statements Geelani has called people to make this Eid as the last with India ,stressed on people that their faith with ongoing freedom movement and hold demonstrations against 'state terrorism' after Eid prayers, besides Geelani in his another statement has asked people to launch massive protest demonstrations across the Kashmir and demand dead body of Afzal Guru.
Meanwhile according to the details received, in the wake of reports of likely protests on Eid-ul-Fitr, authorities today placed several separatist leaders including chairman of his faction Syed Ali Geelani under house arrest. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Shalinder Kumar while talking to a local news agency said that though administration is no mood to put in place any kind of restrictions on Eid day, however in case need arises for maintaining law and order appropriate steps would be implemented to maintain normalcy in Srinagar City where large number of people offer eid prayers.
On the other hand Police sources said that they have been given strict instructions to intensify fool proof vigil around the Hyderpora residence of Syed Ali shah Geelani and stop him from moving out his home on eid day keeping in view the news of preplanned protest strategy of separatist on eid day in Kashmir.
The detail reveal that some other senior members of other separatist factions which include Shabir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan have also been placed under house arrest ahead of Eid ul Fitr, while as chairman of his own faction, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq as per the details received has been allowed to offer Eid prayers at old Eidgah in Srinagar.
Pertinently Mirwaiz has an FIR against him for launching a protest demonstration in 2010 after eid prayers in which violent protests after reaching near Lal chowk area of Srinagar set ablaze some Government offices and gave birth to long season of protests and curfews in Kashmir after that incident.
