Outraged nation wants UPA to adopt pro-active Pak policy | Chakan-da-Bagh massacre of Jawans | | Neha Jammu, Aug 8: The outraged Indian nation wants Congress-led UPA Government to abandon its weak-kneed Pakistan policy and adopt a pro-active policy towards Islamabad so that the enemy country is defeated comprehensively and India saved from the menace of terrorism. People across the nation have been holding protest demonstrations against Pakistan, which on last Monday night massacred our five soldiers in cold-blood, and also denouncing the Congress and the UPA Government, saying they have converted India into a soft state. What has angered the nation all the more was the Defence Minister AK Antony's outrageous statement that about 20 terrorists, along with a few men in Pakistan Army uniform, ambushed the patrolling team and killed them. The statement was not consistent with the statement issued by the Army, which had said that Pakistani soldiers, along with a few others, ambushed the patrol party and killed them. What further angered the nation was the pressure exerted by the Defence Minister and others in the Government on the Army to withdraw its statement and issue a new one that must be consistent with the statement of the Defence Minister. The change in the Army statement dumbfounded and alarmed the entire nation, as it gave everyone to understand that the Defence Minister had started conducting himself like the Pakistan Defence Minister conducts. In fact, the main opposition BJP on August 7 said that AK Antony was not Defence Minister of India; he was Defence Minister of Pakistan. The nature of anger of the nation could be determined from the fact that the Parliament could not function on August 7 and 8. It was hoped that the Congress and the UPA would appreciate the mood of the nation and respect the sentiments of the opposition by tendering an unconditional apology saying they committed a mistake by making a highly irresponsible statement that Pakistan used to strike back and taunt the people of India saying that their own Defence Minister said that it was not the Pakistani Army which massacred the Indian soldiers. On August 8, the Congress crossed all the lines and declared that it was not only standing solidly behind the Defence Minister but also by declaring that India wants peace with Pakistan and will continue to engage with Islamabad. The Congress, in fact, held a pres conference to this effect, thus telling the enraged Indian nation and families of the martyred soldiers that it doesn't care for them as well as the Army and paramilitary forces. It is clear that the Congress is determined to play with dangerous tools completely overlooking the dangerous ramifications of the policy it has decided to pursue to appease Pakistan and its agents in Kashmir. There is no doubt that the nation will punish the Congress and the UPA sooner than later. |
