Kishtwar, Aug 8: Taking security forces for a ride, some unidentified activists of Freedom party head by separatist leader Shabir Ahmed Shah managed to paste inflammatory posters with photographs of Afzal Guru hanged by the government for his role in Parliament attack and Maqbool Butt, the founder of JKLF.
The posters appeared in various parts of Kishtwar town despite presence of heavy security cover in the town. The poster not only appeared outside various mosques, but also in lanes and by lanes of the town. Two such posters also appeared less than 100 meters away from MoS Home's residence. Police after receiving an information about the appearance of poster deputed various teams in town who removed the posters from the walls---- but the posters still existed at few places in Kishtwar town.
The poster stated that Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru are the symbols of ongoing freedom struggle of Jammu and Kashmir and intimated to the people that only having expression for freedom is not enough for attaining freedom, but added that the freedom can be achieved only through fight (Jehad), which as per the poster is the true massage of Afzal Guru and Maqbool Butt to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The poster also demanded return of mortal remains of Guru and Maqbool Butt.
Meanwhile BJP termed the appearance of posters on Kishtwar walls as an attempt to bring back the state towards 90's era when the militants use such tactics to terrorize the nationalist forces. BJP Youth National Executive member Sunil Sharma said that Congress-NC coalition government appeasement policy towards separatist and militants is responsible for encouraging the activities like pasting of posters on walls in Kishtwar. BJP demanded an immediate action against the elements involved in this act. It is pertinent to mention that security is on high alert in Kishtwar town and other areas of Doda region amid rumours of presence of masked men in the area.
