| Key posts vacant in department, Minister's intentions ambiguous | | 8 days on, Director Health awaits official order | | Akshay Azad
Jammu, Aug 8: Eight days after the announcement, Dr. BS Pathania is still awaiting formal order of his appointment as Director Health Jammu, besides several key posts in Directorate of Health Jammu and Kashmir are lying vacant despite availability of eligible candidates, casting a shadow of doubt on Minister's intentions.
Sources informed Early Times that BS Pathania had taken over charge of Director Health Jammu on verbal orders, following the retirement of BD Sharma on July 31. "Since then no formal written order has been issued in favour of BS Pathania owing to which he has no official authority to take any decisions, leaving Director Health office Jammu, defunct", sources said.
Sharing more details about Health department, sources said, several key posts have been lying vacant in Directorate of Health office Jammu and Kashmir since long. Despite the fact that there are several eligible officers, awaiting promotions since long but Minister has stayed indifferent raising a question mark over latter's intention.
"On March 31, Director Family Welfare Kuldeep Kesar had retired following which post had become vacant and has not been filled after lapse of four months. Moreover, post of State Malerialogist is vacant since October and was only filled for two months after BD Sharma had taken charge but again got vacant after retirement of BD Sharma on July 31", sources said. They further said that post of Deputy Director Schemes and Administrative Officer labour Department (Dy Director level post), was also lying vacant since July 31 besides post of Chief Medical Officer Reasi was lying vacant since May 31 after retirement of Des Raj Sharma.
"Two posts of Deputy Directors at Directorate of Health Kashmir are also lying vacant", sources said, adding that Minister was aware of the issue, after he was apprised about the same several times, but Minister has deliberately been ignoring the issue of vacant posts and promotions in the department. They further said that even BS Pathania, who has been given charge of Director Health was junior to Dr. Baldev Raj Sharma and Dr. AD Singh, but has been given the charge due to some unknown reasons. |
