| Rs 1.97 lakh fake currency seized, one held | | | early times report Jammu, Aug 8: Police seized Rs 1.97 lakh fake currency from the possession of one Nazer Ahmed of border area Dooru-Daager, Poonch, police sources said. The counterfeit seizure is in denomination of Rs 500/-, they added. According to the sources, "On specific information a team from Mendher Police Station conducted a raid at the residence of one Naazeer Ahmed in Dooru Daager Mendher in Border district of Poonch. During the searches police recovered the Indian fake currency worth Rs 1.97 Lakh, police sources said and added, "the raid was laid by SHO Mendar Bishnesh Kumar under active supervision of SSP Poonch. Sources further said that further investigations are in progress. This is not the first instance when huge amount of fake Indian currency is being recovered by the police or security forces. Earlier on August 2, the troops of 193 Battalion BSF deployed in border outpost Chawani in RS Pura, district Jammu recovered fake currency worth Rs 4.96 lakh in Rs 1,000 denomination. Apart from fake notes BSF also recovered a .30 calibre pistol, one magazine, seven bullets and two sim cards of Pakistan. The recent seizures have evidently revealed that how Pakistan continues to relentlessly push FICN (Fake Indian Currency Notes) into Indian side through various routes to weaken India's economy. |
