| Khajuria fears spread of epidemic in Lajpat Nagar | | | early times report Jammu, Aug 8: BJP National Executive member and leader of Legislative Party Ashok Khajuria today said the government should immediately pull up and task the concerned departments to take immediate steps to prevent the spread of epidemic in Lajpat Nagar and Canal area. Khajuria had gone to the area for an on the spot assessment of the crisis arising out of the flow of contaminated water, garbage and medical waste through nallah coming from Jammu Medical College and Krishna Nagar. He said that the nallah passing through the area has neither been widened and properly covered nor cleaned on regular basis. "This results in the overflowing of waste water and garbage into the shops and residential premises where it stagnates and form cess pools. These pools not only become the cause of inconvenience to the population of area but also poses grave health hazard to the people. These stagnant cess pools become breeding ground for mosquitoes flies and insects resulting in the spread of diseases," he said. Khajuria also visited Maharaja Hari Singh Park on the bank of river Tawi, of late has generated great resentment among the people against raising of a hotel structure on Tawi's Reclamation Land. He assured the people that any illegal construction raised on Maharaja Hari Singh Park would be demolished and warned the concerned to keep at bay from doing any mischief. Khajuria was accompanied by Sunil Dogra, Raju Pahalwan, Lovely Dogra, Bittu Dogra, Krishan Pahalwan and Gharu Pahalwan.
