early times report
Jammu, Aug 8: Troops, deployed on the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir, may be in for a tough time following reports that agencies across the border were keen to push groups of militants, belonging to Lashkar-I-Toiba (LeT) into the state.
According to the inputs of intelligence agencies things could become hot for the Indian border guards after Pakistan pulls out over 150,000 of its troops from Pak-Afghan border somewhere next year when
the US led NATO forces were due to withdraw from Afghanistan. These forces may be deployed on the Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir thereby leading to increased chances of ceasefire violations b y the Pak troops.
Official sources said that the Pak game plan was to push in as many militants as possible into Jammu an Kashmir for hiking the level of violence in the Indian state.Sources said that the ultimate aim of the Pak agencies besides the Lashkar commanders was to cripple peace and economy in Kashmir. In fact the main aim was to escalate the level of violence which could disrupt the next Assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources referred to the recent statement of Lashkar , Chief,Hafiz Sayeed,in which he had said that a full-scale armed Jihad was tosoon in Kashmir after the American forces withdrew from Afghanistan. Hence for Lashkar and the Talibans the ultimate aim was to target Indian interests in Afghanistan and raise the level of violence in Jammu and Kashmir which could force India to settle the issue as per the wishes of Islamabad.
According to these sources, Fidayeen at tacks too have surfaced in Jammu and Kashmir this season after a long interval which led to killing of several Army personnel. They said that in this connection the Army authorities were reframing border management and internal security grid so that terrorists of any hue were not able to hike violence and derail peace and progress.
