Jammu Aug 8: Govt Degree College (GDC) Bishnah today organized an Extension Lecture and symposium on the theme "HIV-AIDS Awareness among Adolescents" in collaboration with J&K State Aids Prevention & Control Society under the supervision of Dr Savtanter Kour, Convener RRC (NSS Programme Officer) alongwith Prof Sunita Gupta. Chief Guest on the occasion MLA, Ashwani Kumar Sharma in his address appreciated effort to create awareness among the generalpublic about the dreaded disease. Earlier the programme started with lighting of traditional lamp by chief guest accompanied with Prof Kalpana Kesar, Principal of the College and Deepika B Thakur, Dy Director (IEC) JKSACS which was followed by "Saraswati Vandhana". Later Dr Savtanter Kour in her address highlighted the role of RRC. Deepika B. Thakur, dwelt in detail about different aspects of HIV/AIDS. Atlast eight students namely Pooja Devi, Ruby Khajuria, Preeti, Priyanka, Nidhu Kaith, Sanjeec Kumar, Sonia Bala, Seema Mottan & Parveen Kumar participated in the symposium. In the symposium Nidhu Kaith, Sonia Bala & Preeti were adjudged as top three winners respectively where as Parveen Kumar was given consolation prize, a panel of comprising Dr Alka Sharma, Dr Seema Jamwal & Dr Suman Charak adjudged the performance of the participants. Prof Preeti Dogra presented vote of thanks. Meanhile GDC Bishnah also reconstituted Red Ribbon Club for the academic session with Seema Mottan and Amandeep of B.A. Part-II declared elected as Joint Conveners where as Jasmeet Kour of B.A. Part-II, Nidhu Kaith & Sanjeev Kumar of B.A. Part-I were elected as Student Representative. |
