| Stop border firing to start talks | | | ET REPORT Jammu, Aug 14: Despite Pakistan Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif's fresh move to befriend India, New Delhi has toughened its stand on Islamabad and has conveyed to Pak Government to first create a conducive atmosphere for any next bilateral dialogue. Official sources said that New Delhi has vehemently denied Islamabad's charge that the Indian troops had violated ceasefire and targeted some Pak border posts. New Delhi has conveyed to Islamabad its deep resentment and displeasure over continued ceasefire violations on the LOC and the IB in Jammu and Kashmir. It has accused Pak troops of providing moral and material support to militants in crossing into Jammu and Kashmir for hiking the level of subversive violence in the state. Government circles today said that New Delhi has told Islamabad that it welcomed Nawaz Sharif's desire for promoting peace and cordial ties with India but the role the Pak Army was planning to fuel border conflict could further delay resumption of dialogue. New Delhi has also conveyed to Islamabad that Pak troops and other agencies should not only stop ceasefire violations but close the training camps for militants. Official sources said that following pressure from India and other international agencies the number of arms training camps had decreased from 42 to 22. India wants the remaining 22 camps to be closed so that the new Government in Islamabad was in a position to stop using the soil of Pakistan for exporting terror to India. Government circles said that New Delhi has placed the dialogue ball in the court of Islamabad and it depends on the Pak Government and the Army whether they want the dialogue process to be resumed or remained stalled. |
