| Mayawati wants President's rule in Jammu and Kashmir | | Kishtwar wrong | | MINCING NO WORDS
Neha
JAMMU, Aug 14: Ever since August 9, when the armed anti-national elements enacted a drama of death and destruction in Kishtwar, the NC-Congress coalition in general and the NC in particular are at the receiving end. Everyone in Jammu and outside, and even in Kashmir, is condemning the Chief Minister and his administration saying that while the Chief Minister is incompetent, his government is a total failure. They are saying that the Kishtwar wrong was the fallout of the failure of Omar Abdullah and his administration to act on time taking into consideration the developments which had unfolded in the area during the past two weeks and inputs from the intelligence agencies. There is an almost general consensus across the nation that the state is not in safe hands and that there are elements in the government and administration who are hand-in-glove with certain undesirable elements. The extent of anger against Omar Abdullah and his government could be determined from the fact that the Kishtwar wrong rocked the Parliament for two days, with almost everyone in the opposition condemning the state government for inaction and complicity. It could also be seen from what BSP national president Mayawati said on Monday in the Rajya Sabha while speaking on the issue that has outraged and angered the nation. Mayawati not only condemned the state government for its failure to protect the minority community, but also demanded President's rule in the state. She rejected as a sham the Chief Minister's suggestion that he will appoint one retired High Court Judge to probe into the issue and fix responsibility and demanded that FIR must be lodged against the Minister of State Home Sajjad Ahmad Kitchloo. She declared that her party will not forgive this government as it failed to save the life of son of the BSP leader. It needs to be noted that the BSP has been demanding trifurcation of the state into Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh States and abrogation of Article 370. Only on August 2, BSP national general secretary Narinder Kashyap, along with state BSP president Tulsi Das Langeh, held a press conference in Jammu and decalred that the BSP would see to it that the state was trifurcated and Article 370, which is anti-minorities and anti-SCs , STs and OBCs, abrogated. The demand made by Mayawati and the very strong language she used against the state government needs to be viewed in this context. It is a different story that the NC has been condemning the BJP and not the BSP. The truth, in short, is that there is no love lost between the "secular" BSP and communal NC. |
