| Gurezi or Feroz may get Home portfolio | | Minor reshuffle in state cabinet on cards | | Bashir Assad Srinagar, Aug14: Hunt for new Minister of State for Home has begun following the resignation of Sajad Ahmad Kichloo from the Council of Ministers over Kishtwar clashes which left three people dead and several injured. Soon after the resignation of Kichloo as Minister of State holding independent charge of Industries and Commerce, the General Administration Department issued an order saying that the Industries and Commerce Department shall remain under the direct control of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, however, the Home department held by Kichloo as MoS has not been assigned to anyone so for. If the sources are to be believed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah discussed the issue with Union Health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad late last night but the deliberations remained inconclusive. Sources, however, maintained that due to fewer choices available the charge of Home Department shall either go to MoS ( Independent Charge) Sheep and Animal Husbandry Department, Nazir Ahmad Khan Gurezi or to the MOS (Independent Charge) Science and Technology, Feroz Ahmad Khan who represents the Zanskar Constituency of Kargil District. Sources further averred that neither Chief Minister nor the Union Health Minister were in favour of induction of a new face in the Council of Ministers essentially because of the volatile situation in Jammu and Kashmir. They said both the leaders were in agreement that instead of inducting a new face in the council of ministers, the Home portfolio should be handed over to someone amongst the existing Ministers of state. However, MoS Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Nazir Gurezi while talking to Early Times on Phone refused to comment on the issue saying that he has no information about the same. " Frankly speaking I don't know, I have no information about it" Gurezi said. MoS, Science and Technology, Feroz Ahmad Khan too refused to comment on the issue. Meanwhile reports emanating from certain quarters Wednesday hinted at minor reshuffle in the state cabinet in the coming days. Reports said chief minister, Omar Abdullah and Congress leadership were in touch on the issue and if everything goes according to plans, minor reshuffle will be effected in the state Cabinet once the situation in Jammu region comes to normal. The reports said that assigning the charge of Home department to anyone will automatically form a chain because it was sure that the one who gets the charge of Home department shall loose the department he currently holds and in the process a minor reshuffle becomes inevitable. SET exam postponed In view of the prevailing unrest and uncertainty aftermath Kishtwar violence, the examination for State Eligibility Test (SET), scheduled for August 18 at various centres established for the purpose, has been postponed indefinitely. The fresh date for the conduct of the same examination shall be notified in near future, a handout issued by the University of Jammu (JU) here today informed.
